Indian Manufacturers Will Produce Range Rover and Range Rover Sport Locally

Alibaug: Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, two of Jaguar Land Rover’s most popular SUVs, will be produced domestically. This makes India, the first nation outside of the UK where these models are being made, the site of the company’s construction. The locally manufactured SUV deliveries will start right away.

The Range Rover 3.0 liter petrol Autobiography variant costs ₹2.60 crore (before taxes), while the locally manufactured 3.0 liter HSE LWB costs ₹2.36 crore. For both the diesel and petrol variants, the price of the Range Rover Sport is 1.40 crore (before taxes).

At the ceremonial opening of the Range Rover House here, the brand’s first experiential center in India, the firm made the announcement regarding the local manufacture. The decision to produce the two SUVs locally, according to company officials, is a direct result of these car types’ increasing popularity.
“Over the last few years, India has witnessed steady and spectacular economic growth and is poised to grow consistently in the future as well. This growth has resulted in tremendous opportunities to localize product offerings for the discerning Indian clientele,” said Lennard Hoornik, Chief Commercial Officer at JLR. “Local manufacturing of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport in India is the next significant step towards the brand consolidating its position as the most desirable modern luxury SUV family in the country.”

The F-Pace, Discovery Sport, Evoque, and Velar are the four vehicles that Jaguar Land Rover is currently producing in the nation. However, the top models in the brand’s lineup, the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, will now also be the center of attention. The two models will be added to the existing manufacture, which has been going on in Solihull, UK, since 1970.

JLR claims that throughout the previous few years, it has been able to record remarkable development in sales within the nation. Officials from the company said that although not disclosing any figures, their growing trajectory has driven them to concentrate more on this market.
