GitHub Launches An Indian Subsidiary To Support Its Developer Community

GitHub declared today that it’s opening a subsidiary in India called GitHub India Private Limited. The organization said the nation has a third-biggest number if active developer community on GitHub following the US and China.

Over the coming months, the Mircosoft-owned organization ll build teams over the community, engineering, sales, support, marketing, and services to empower developers to embrace the best DevOps practices.

In a blog post, Erica Brescia, COO of GitHub said that with of developing number of public repositories in India, the organization expects to help open-source improvement by making a local group:

Over the previous year, the quantity of public repositories in India has grown 75 percent, exhibiting a sharp increment in collaboration over the Indian developer community. In working out a local group in India, we will probably make stronger relationships with developers and support open source development across developers, maintainers, and enterprises.

GitHub as of now has existing enterprise clients in the nation including food delivery service Swiggy and pharma cloud solutions organization ArisGlobal.

The world’s leading IT organizations, for example, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Wipro, and Infosys were conceived in India. So there’s no deficiency of developers in the nation. A year ago, a report from the Economic Times, recommended India can have the biggest developer populace in the world by 2024.

There’s no big surprise why GitHub wants a bit of that pie.
