Hayson Tasher Sr. on Turning Challenges Into Paths for Growth

Success rarely arrives with a grand announcement. More often, it appears disguised as a challenge, a difficult decision, a lesson, or a chance that many people overlook. For Hayson Tasher Sr., recognizing opportunity has become more than a personal philosophy; it has shaped a career built on resilience, discipline, service, and continuous personal growth. From military experience and opportunities in the entertainment industry to leading OLDPGS SECURITY MANAGEMENT, Tasher believes that people can create new possibilities for themselves by recognizing opportunities, developing their skills, and taking action.

His story is not simply about building a security company. It is about refusing to let opportunities pass by, continually investing in personal development, and encouraging others to take steps toward their own goals instead of waiting for the perfect time.

From Seizing Opportunities to Building OLDPGS SECURITY MANAGEMENT

Long before establishing OLDPGS SECURITY MANAGEMENT, Hayson Tasher Sr. experienced opportunities that helped shape his perspective on success. In the late 1990s, he was signed to Hollywood Casting and was in discussions for a television show that would have aired between the iconic sitcoms Friends and Frasier. He was also considered for his own game show, Hayson’s Big Ass Game Show. While the entertainment industry presented exciting possibilities, Tasher’s journey would ultimately lead him toward entrepreneurship and professional security management.

Drawing from his experience in the United States Marine Corps and years of hands-on security work, Tasher handled security details for high-profile events and valuable assets, including the BET Awards, Rams Training Camp, Dancing with the Stars, the Batmobile, and the original Superman costume. These experiences reinforced the importance of professionalism, preparation, responsibility, and trust.

Recognizing that he had developed expertise beyond the organizations where he worked, Tasher continued investing in certifications, licenses, and professional training. These efforts expanded his knowledge, strengthened his professional capabilities, and opened doors to opportunities that may not have otherwise been available.

One simple decision marked the beginning of something much bigger.

“I made a business card with my name and all the services I’m licensed for and realized I needed to think of a name for my very own security company.”

That realization became part of the foundation of OLDPGS SECURITY MANAGEMENT, a company providing armed and unarmed security officers, school security services under SB1626, alarm response, loss prevention investigations, security management, and consulting services.

Why Awareness Creates Opportunity

For Tasher, success begins with awareness. He believes that opportunities can appear in many forms, but recognizing them is only the first step. Preparation, discipline, education, and the willingness to take action can determine what someone does with those opportunities.

His philosophy is reflected in a quote that continues to guide him: “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.” For Tasher, this means taking initiative rather than simply waiting for circumstances to change.

He also encourages people to take their goals seriously and avoid continually postponing the things they want to accomplish.

“The worst thing you can do is get to the end of your life not pursuing your goals and realize ‘New Year, New Me’ isn’t an option any longer. Procrastination caught up with you.”

This mindset extends into his leadership style. Whether assigning security personnel or mentoring aspiring professionals, Tasher emphasizes commitment, responsibility, and professionalism.

“If I have to fight with a guard to stand a post, I don’t believe they want it. You want guards who want it.”

Building the Next Chapter

Hayson’s ambitions extend beyond the company’s existing security operations. He plans to expand the OLDPGS SECURITY MANAGEMENT brand through retail locations featuring OLD Patrolman-branded products, security technology, tactical wear, and other industry-related products.

He also envisions establishing security training centers that can provide professional development and create additional pathways into the industry. Alongside this, he plans to develop an event-focused sister security company, further expanding the organization’s services.

At the center of these ambitions is the same principle that has guided his career: create opportunities instead of waiting for them.

Hayson encourages people to take control of their goals, invest in themselves, and avoid allowing setbacks to determine their future. His own journey from continuously developing his skills in the security industry to building and leading a company has reinforced his belief that progress begins with action.

For Hayson Tasher Sr., creating a better future is not about waiting for the perfect opportunity. It is about developing the courage, skills, and persistence to build that opportunity and, whenever possible, opening the door for someone else as well.
