Veteran outfielder John J retired after 12 MLB seasons

Outfielder John J., who played 12 MLB seasons and won the World Series ring with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2011, announced his retirement in an Instagram post on Wednesday.

Jay, who hasn’t played since the Los Angeles Angeles release in March 2021, had a career. 283 batting average with 37 home runs, 341 RBI and 55 stolen bases.

“As a kid, I remember watching sports center highlights and imitating my favorite MLB players,” Jayne said in his post. “It’s still unrealistic for me to have played Major League Baseball. Since I officially retired from the game that changed my life, I want to thank everyone who played a role in bringing me here. … Baseball, you will be forever. In my heart.”

Jay, 37, played his first six MLB seasons with the Cardinals. He also donated jerseys for Padres, Constables, Royals, Diamondbacks, White Sox and Angels throughout his career.
