Shanghai Motor Show 2025 Unveils the New Mercedes-Benz CLA Long-Wheelbase

Mercedes-Benz recently unveiled the new CLA sedan, a luxury vehicle with a longer wheelbase designed especially for the Chinese market. At Auto Shanghai 2025, the manufacturer unveiled the new Mercedes-Benz CLA long-wheelbase, which gives the entry-level luxury car additional legroom and more market-specific modifications.

The CLA L’s design is identical to that of the basic CLA, which was debuted in March. The largest difference is the L’s longer dimensions, which include a wheelbase that is 75 mm longer and a length that is 40 mm longer than the typical CLA. It’s interesting to note that the CLA L has the same 2865 mm wheelbase as the C-class, but it is longer at 4,763 mm.

A special rear seat with a cushion that has been enlarged by 10 mm for greater leg support is included with the extra legroom in the back. Additionally, the back seats have softer bolstering for improved comfort and balance. Dolby Atmos spatial audio is another noteworthy feature. The navigation system also includes lane-level navigation, 3D mapping, and traffic signal timers, the latter of which is made possible by data from local provider AMAP.

Moving on to the interior, the CLA L has the same layout as the original model, with three dashboard screens running Mercedes’ new MB.OS, albeit with software customized for the Chinese market. Software evolves beyond the typical MB.OS with a new MBUX voice assistant built on top of DouBao, a Chinese AI tool. One of the new features unique to the China-spec automobiles is the “Just Talk” feature, which enables users from all seats to actively switch between Chinese and English while interacting with the voice assistant.

In China, the new CLA L with all-electric propulsion will be accessible. A range of 866 km (CLTC) on a single charge is promised by the business. Up to 320 kW of fast charging will be supported, enabling a 370 km range in 10 minutes. The 200 kW (268 bhp) electric motor installed on the back will provide the power.
