Padma Awards 2025: Ashok Saraf, Shobana, and Others Received Padma Awards

Padma Awards 2025: Second civil investiture ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday, May 27, President Droupadi Murmu presented the Padma Awards 2025. 69 distinguished individuals for the year 2025 received Padma Awards from her during the second part of the ceremony. 3 of them received Padma Vibhushan, 9 received Padma Bhushan, and 57 received Padma Shri.

The President of India awarded the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri to actors Anant Nag and Ashok Laxman Saraf, respectively. For his outstanding contribution, musician Ricky Kej was recently given the Padma Shri. The Padma Bhushan was given to actor Shobana Chandrakumar in recognition of her artistic contributions. The Padma Vibhushan in the Art category was also given posthumously to the late singer Sharda Sinha.

Dancer and actor Shobana Chandrakumar, businessman Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti, archeologist Kailash Nath Dikshit, Satteiah dance exponent Jatin Goswami, actor Anant Nag, and Sadhvi Ritambhara were among the notable individuals who received nine Padma Bhushans, the third-highest civilian honor.

The son of former Maharashtra Chief Minister and economist Bibek Debroy, as well as the economist’s wife, accepted the posthumous honor for Joshi, who was also the speaker of the Lok Sabha.

The Padma Shri awardees included renowned immunologist and KGMU VC Nityanand, football player I.M. Vijayan, singer Ashwini Bhide Deshpande, actor Ashok Laxman Saraf, mask maker Reba Kanta Mahanta, musician Ricky Gyan Kej, theater personality Barry John, and dance choreographer Mamata Shankar Ghosh.

Other Padma Shri honorees included author Sant Ram Deswal, spiritual leader Acharya Jonas Mejetti, businessman Sajjan Bhajanka, scientist Ajay V. Bhatt, Dr. Neerja Bhatla, Farooq Ahmad Mir, and renowned parai player Velu Aasan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Dr. S. Jaishankar, and Pralhad Joshi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and others were among the dignitaries in attendance.

The award ceremony’s first phase was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on April 28. Last month, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Shekhar Kapur, Ajith Kumar, and numerous more were honored.
