Kia EV6 Update to Deliver Sleek New Look

For its EV6 electric compact crossover, which already has a bold design, Kia is getting set to unveil a sleek new style.

The carmaker has spent the last year testing disguised prototypes of an upgraded EV6.

A glimpse of the redesigned EV6’s front and back in the teaser image reveals that the headlamps will have a drastically different appearance, more in line with what the manufacturer has brought on more recent model additions like the 2024 EV9 electric midsize SUV and the 2025 K4 small sedan.

The alterations in the back are somewhat more subtle. The taillights’ curving light bar now has a new design, which is the sole obvious change.

Beyond the two teaser images, Kia hasn’t revealed any more details, such as when the revised EV6 will make its public debut.

The 2022 model year saw the introduction of the current EV6, which gave rise to the 2023 EV6 GT. Though it could have to wait until the 2026 model year, the upgraded model should debut for the 2025 model year in keeping with Kia tradition. Prototypes show that the high-performance EV6 GT will also receive the modifications.

Both models will probably make their appearance later this year.

Although the precise technical modifications are unknown, it is also expected that the existing 77.4-kwh battery will be replaced with an 84-kwh one. An upgraded model of the relevant Hyundai Ioniq 5, which was unveiled in March, has already been given notice of the modification.

The latest version of the EV6, which is built on the adaptable E-GMP platform from Hyundai Motor Group, has an estimated range of up to 310 miles according to the EPA. Although the EV6 GT only has a 218 mile range, its dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain produces a strong 576 horsepower, which is sufficient for a 3.4-second 0-60 mph acceleration time and a top speed of 161 mph.

Two more electric vehicles from Kia are planned: the EV9 GT performance flagship and the EV3 subcompact crossover. In the US, Kia also has plans for an electric pickup truck.
