‘Jaws’ 50th Anniversary Rerelease Date Set

In honor of Jaws’ 50th anniversary, Universal Pictures has revealed the dates of the Peacock streaming premiere and the theatrical rerelease.

Steven Spielberg directed the movie based on a script by Carl Gottlieb and Peter Benchley that was inspired by Benchley’s 1974 book of the same name. Murray Hamilton, Lorraine Gray, Richard Dreyfuss, Roy Scheider, and Robert Shaw were among the cast members. Based on 148 reviews since its 1975 release, the movie has a nearly flawless Tomatometer rating of 97%.

Synopsis

The town’s head of police, a young marine biologist, and a seasoned shark hunter set out on a desperate mission to eliminate the hazardous great white shark that attacks the coastal community of Amity before it attacks again. Five decades later, Universal Pictures’ Jaws is still regarded as one of the most significant and captivating films in cinematic history, with an enduring soundtrack that evokes absolute dread.

In celebration of Jaws’ 50th anniversary, the studio has teamed up with the 2025 TCM Classic Film Festival to provide a unique presentation of the movie at the year’s opening theater showing. When Jaws returns to the big screen on August 29 and runs through September 4, fans across can also join in on the festivities. This Memorial Day weekend in May, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will also be showing Jaws movie parties at its cinemas across the country. In addition to limited-edition popcorn buckets and accessories, the screenings will feature a unique cuisine and entertaining props.

August 29 is the first day of Jaws’ cinematic re-release. Peacock will be the only place to watch Jaws, Jaws 2, Jaws 3-D, and Jaws: The Revenge on June 15.
