GrabPay Card Services will be Phased Down in June

The digital and physical GrabPay Cards will no longer be supported by Grab as of June 1, 2024, the company has stated.

Users can still seek a replacement card until April 30 if necessary, however the super app has ceased accepting new GrabPay Card applications as of April 1.

Until then, the card service will not have an impact on users’ GrabRewards points or GrabPay Wallet balance. In order for points to remain valid, users must complete at least one point-earning purchase per month.

As part of its collaboration with Mastercard, the world’s largest payment company, the company introduced GrabPay Card services in 2019. Prior to being extended to other Southeast Asian nations, the services were initially launched in Singapore.

“We have observed much higher adoption and use of other Grab offerings (such as PayLater by Grab, GrabPay Wallet) that better cater to the needs of our users,” Grab said in a statement.

In order to “refine these products to provide an even better user experience,” the firm intends to concentrate on this.

Grab has teamed with cryptocurrency payments provider Triple-A to launch the GrabPay app in Singapore, despite having ceased its card offering.

Grab was able to introduce functionality for digital token-based e-wallet top-ups thanks to the partnership. Major coins including bitcoin, ethereum, USDC, and USDT are supported by the new functionality, along with XSGD, a stablecoin powered by blockchain technology and correlated with the Singapore dollar.
