Google I/O 2024 is Scheduled for May 14th Here’s what to Anticipate

Google has formally declared that Tuesday, May 14, 2024, will be the date of its yearly developer conference, Google I/O. Once a sufficient number of community members had solved the “Break the Loop” problem, Google verified the date.

The keynote speech, which Google uses to introduce new hardware and software capabilities for its current products, usually takes place on the day of the I/O event. The opening keynote speech by CEO Sundar Pichai at the Shoreline Amphitheater should make this year’s I/O event no different. After then, the program should switch to online technical seminars and presentations geared toward developers.

As in previous years, anyone can virtually attend Google I/O 2024 as it will be live-streamed for free. A small live audience will also be present at the location.

The event’s free online registration is open as of right now. By registering, participants can receive regular updates on the schedule and content. Moreover, users can customize their experience and keep content that matches their interests by creating a developer profile.

As is Google’s custom, hardware fans should anticipate announcements at I/O where new products are showcased. Previous product unveilings have featured Nest gadgets, Chromebooks, and Pixel phones. Rumor has it that the Pixel 8a will launch this year, but we wouldn’t rule out the possibility of teasers for upcoming devices like the Pixel Fold 2 and Pixel 9 series.

Expect a lot of attention about AI beyond hardware, with Google’s sophisticated language model, Gemini, probably taking center stage. Updates on Android 15 are also anticipated, maybe delving deeply into Google’s plans for Android XR.

The event will be revealed in more detail as May 14th approaches.
