Emmys Awards 2025: Date, Time, and How to Stream Live

Emmys Awards 2025: Date, Time, and How to Stream Live

Sunday is the day for the Emmy Awards, the yearly Hollywood show that celebrates the finest in television. The Emmys are in their 77th edition.

Here’s how to watch:

When does the show begin?

The event will take place at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles will start at 8 p.m. Eastern (5 p.m. Pacific). The Emmys typically conclude in roughly three hours on time.

Where can you watch?

If you have access to network television, you can easily watch the ceremony as it is being broadcast by CBS. If you have the “premium plan,” which costs $13 per month (free trials and discounts are also available), you may watch the Emmys live on Paramount+. The less expensive Paramount+ “essential plan” will not offer live streaming of the Emmys.

Additionally, a number of streaming sites, such as YouTube TV and Hulu Live, carry CBS; however, access to these distributors requires a subscription.

What qualifies?

TV shows that debuted between June 2024 and May 2025.

During the ceremony, 25 awards will be given out, including best drama, comedy, limited, and discussion series, as well as acting and writing distinctions. When Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen receive the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award on Sunday, they will also receive a special shout-out.

At the Creative Arts Emmy Awards last weekend, dozens of technical and guest acting statuettes were previously given out. The two shows having the most Emmys to date are “The Studio” (9) and “The Penguin” (8).

Who’s hosting?

It will be hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze. A comedian who is quickly rising to fame, Bargatze usually keeps his humor clean and G-rated; he is unlikely to cross any political third rails. The chairman of CBS recently expressed his admiration for Bargatze’s efforts to “bring us all together” in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Both of Bargatze’s hosting appearances on “Saturday Night Live” received overwhelmingly positive reviews.

In April, CBS made an earlier-than-normal announcement and hired Bargatze. Additionally, the network declined to use Stephen Colbert, who hosted the event for the network in 2017 but is significantly more politically motivated. CBS revealed during the summer that Colbert’s program had been canceled and will no longer air in May 2026.

What time is the red carpet?

A red carpet event will be broadcast on the cable network E! starting at 6 p.m. Eastern.

Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner, hosts of “Entertainment Tonight,” will present CBS’s own red carpet broadcast, which starts at 7 p.m. Eastern. Additionally, it will be streamed on the Paramount+ subscription service.

Which people are among the favorites?

The HBO Max medical series “The Pitt” and the Apple TV+ dystopian workplace series “Severance” are competing for best drama. Industry insiders believe the race is too close to call, despite award predictors’ belief that “Severance” is still the clear favorite. Noah Wyle (“The Pitt”) is competing for his first Emmy, and Adam Scott (“Severance”) is also a strong contender for best actor in a drama.

In the comedy categories, “The Studio,” which parodies contemporary Hollywood on Apple TV+, is the clear favorite and won nine Creative Arts Emmys last weekend. It will compete against “Hacks,” the winner from the previous year.

The HBO Max series “The Penguin” won eight Emmys last weekend, the second-most of any series to date, while Netflix’s “Adolescence” is the clear favorite in the limited series categories.
