2024’s Upcoming Tamil Films on OTT: Aranmanai 4, Garudan, Star, and More
In 2024, the Tamil film industry is anticipating a thrilling year as a number of new films are scheduled to debut on multiple OTT platforms. Aranmanai 4, which promises a continuation of the adored horror-comedy franchise, and Garudan, which delivers dramatic drama and compelling action, are two of the many Tamil films available on OTT. Star, Inga Naan Thaan Kingu, Uyir Thamizhukku, and Kaaduvetty are also on the schedule; each of them adds something new to your watchlist.
1. Star
Reviews for the Tamil film Star were largely favorable when it debuted in theaters on May 10, 2024. A man named Kalai dreams of being a movie star, and that is the storyline of Elan’s film. The story dives into the challenges faced by those who want to get into the film industry while narrating his path. Notably, a few scenes in the movie draw inspiration from Vijay’s early career, which gives the narrative more realism and nuance.
Kavin, Lal, Geetha Kailasam, Aaditi Pohankar, Preity Mukhundhan, and other brilliant actors are among the cast members of Star. Interestingly, this movie is Kavin’s first 2024 release. According to earlier reports, Star’s digital release was scheduled to launch on Amazon Prime Video on June 14. However, it has now been announced that Star will be accessible on Amazon Prime for streaming.
2. Aranmanai 4
Aranmanai 4, which has been a commercial success, is currently preparing for its launch on digital streaming. In important parts in this horror-comedy are Tamannaah Bhatia, Raashii Khanna, Ramachandra Raju, Santhosh Prathap, and Sundar. Aranmanai 4, directed by Sunder C, is a joint production of Benzz Media (P) Ltd. and Avni Cinemax.
It’s interesting to note that the ghost Baak is the focus of the movie. Assamese mythology claims that the Baak spirit likes to drown people and fish to kill them. Aranmanai 4, with its original plot, will soon be available for streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar. Additionally, the platform has announced that it would begin streaming in the languages of Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam on June 21.
3. Inga Naan Thaan Kingu
Inga Naan Thann Kingu, directed by Anand Narayan and starring Santhanam, premiered in theaters on May 17, 2024. The film centers around Vetri, a man who takes out a hefty loan to purchase an apartment. To repay the loan, he plans to marry a girl from a wealthy family to receive a substantial dowry. However, his plans unexpectedly turn when a wealthy Zamindar family sends him a marriage proposal.
The creators have not yet disclosed the terms of digital streaming. Films usually make their digital debut 45–60 days following their theatrical debut. As a result, Inga Naan Thaan Kingu will not be available on OTT platforms for a little while longer.
4. Uyir Thamizhukku
Alongside other films like Star and Rasavathi, the Tamil political drama Uyir Thamizhukku will be released in theaters on May 10, 2024. Producers V. Creations and Moon Pictures collaborated to produce the film, which was directed by Adam Bhava. Imman Annachi, Chandini Sreedharan, and Ameer Sultan play important parts in it. Saravana Sakthi, Anandaraj, and Ravi Venkatraman are among the supporting cast members.
Despite Uyir Thamizhukku’s launching concurrently with Star, its streaming information have not yet been disclosed by the developers. Thus, viewers will have to hold off until more announcements.
The May 15, 2024, release of Kaaduvetty and the May 31, 2024, release of Garudan have not yet revealed any information about their OTT debuts.
