Vietnam and American Businesses Will Have New Investment Opportunities Through APEC 2023

It is anticipated that enterprises in both Vietnam and the United States would have several investment opportunities in the future as a result of President Vo Van Thuong’s visit to the US from November 14–17 for the APEC Leaders’ Week and bilateral events.

Former US Ambassador to Vietnam and current President of the US-ASEAN Business Council Ted Osius stated that he believed there were no boundaries to US-Vietnam relations and that both people-to-people and bilateral trade and economic ties would only strengthen and deepen in the future.

Marc Knapper, the US ambassador to Vietnam, emphasized that there is still a great deal of room for cooperation between the two nations, especially in the areas of seaports and aviation infrastructure.

Along with praising Vietnam’s prospects for economic growth, US businesses expressed their anticipation for additional business opportunities in the Southeast Asian country. They have suggested the areas that should be enhanced in order to assist Vietnam in drawing in more foreign capital.

John Neuffer, the president and CEO of the US Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), praised Vietnam’s policies regarding high-tech and the semiconductor industry and recommended that the nation soon take particular actions to entice US capital flows to the sector.

Several cities, including Ho Chi Minh City and Hung Yen, hosted investment promotion conferences on green growth, high-tech, reducing carbon emissions, and agricultural consumption as part of Thuong’s tour, with US businesses attending.

The Vietnam News Agency was informed by Phan Van Mai, the chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee, that US companies expressed interest in investing in Vietnam, specifically in its southern city.

On this occasion, Hung Yen signed cooperation agreements with four US partners in the areas of semiconductor, high-tech, agricultural consumption, and waste treatment, according to Tran Quoc Van, chairman of the Hung Yen province People’s Committee.

The President’s visit has helped bring the joint declaration on the formation of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the US and Vietnam to reality. It has also encouraged cooperation in the high-tech and green economies, as well as connection across communities.
