Meta announced that it would be integrating an AI-powered summary function into WhatsApp. The new function, which is optional, summarizes unread chat conversations using Meta AI.
The feature expands upon the AI technology that Meta unveiled in April, enabling the business to deploy AI functionalities that do not compromise user privacy or encryption.
Meta AI powers the message summarization capability, which makes use of a private computing platform known as “Private Processing.” You would be the only person in your chat who could see this summary.
The function, which preserves end-to-end privacy, is intended to be particularly helpful in hectic group chats, allowing users to swiftly catch up on lengthy threads without having to go through each message.
WhatsApp’s new stack enables it to use its AI to process requests by retrieving context from your private chat. This enables it to offer writing advice or message summaries.
The new AI-powered features are available under a new setting that can be accessed via Settings > Chats > Private Processing, which lets you turn on or off individual functions.
With English language support, the message summaries functionality is presently being introduced in the United States. In the upcoming months, Meta intends to make its services available in additional languages and areas.
