It is a bold plan to change the face of medicine to improve its health effects. That’s what resident doctors at Laurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago have done.

He created a mentoring program called “Teen Dock” for Chicago’s public high school students who have been historically under-represented in the medical field.

Doctors say the quality of care improves when the total population of doctors matches patients.

“If you’re still wondering what career you want, this is the perfect program for you. Just learn more about a career in medicine,” said Catherine Santana of Mather High School.

The guidance program aims to promote diversity, equality and inclusion in healthcare.
