Apple’s upcoming MacBook Air redesign has been widely reported, but new information suggests it could come in two sizes. According to the latest quarterly report from Display Supply Chain Consultants (via 9to5Mac and AppleInsider), Apple is working on a 15-inch version of the laptop to fit the 13-inch model, which can also get itself a slightly larger screen.
Following the report, Ming-chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, said that mass production is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2023. Kuo also says that the laptop is designed to use a 30W adapter similar to the MacBook Air, which will put it under the latest MacBook Pro machine in terms of power consumption. Finally, Cuo reported that the new laptop could not be called a “MacBook Air”, which is more a question of branding than anything else and is likely to be in the realm of betting for a product far from product.
Bloomberg reported earlier last year that Apple had considered building a 15-inch MacBook Air with a 13-inch redesign, but eventually decided not to produce it.
