How to Stream ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ at Home in 2025

The beloved cult classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, is having a fantastic year.
It’s possible that “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” wasn’t a huge hit with audiences when it debuted on September 26, 1975. Decades later, and particularly during the scary season, the film is a bold representation of queer celebration.
The movie is based on Richard O’Brien’s original screenplay, “The Rocky Horror Show,” which made its London premiere in June 1973 at the Royal Court Theatre. The following year, it made its way to the US, where it debuted in March 1974 at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles. In October of the same year, the “picture show” started to be filmed.
Among the musical numbers that make “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” most famous are “Time Warp,” “Sweet Transvestite,” and, of course, the opening number, “Science Fiction/Double Feature.”
