It kind of depends on how you look at it, but the revamped Chevy Equinox costs more than the previous model. Beginning at $29,995, Chevrolet has revealed the price of its new, boxier small SUV. The previous entry-level LS trim has been discontinued, making the LT the new entry level, even though it now costs at least $2000 more to get into the least costly Equinox. In actuality, the 2025 Chevy Equinox LT costs $895 less than its predecessor. Notice? It all comes down to viewpoint.
The athletic RS and outdoor-focused Activ trim levels make up the remainder of the ’25 Equinox portfolio. It really comes down to personal preference, as both start at $34,395. The RS comes with a distinctive grille and standard 19-inch wheels, while 20s and a black roof are available. The Activ, located on the opposite side of the showroom, features 17-inch wheels with all-terrain rubber and, for an extra charge, a contrasting white roof.
A 1.5-liter turbo-4 engine with 175 horsepower that was carried over from the previous model is standard on every Equinox. Instead of a six-speed automatic, it now couples with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). It’s also possible that GM will release a plug-in hybrid version. Currently, the gas-powered Equinox can be had with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Although the latter has higher torque (203 versus 184 pound-feet), adding AWD also adds $2000 to the final cost.
Chevy now offers three SUVs under $30K, with the 2025 Equinox joining the lineup. The starting prices of the tiny Trax and squarer Trailblazer are $21,495 and $23,395, respectively. The next model is the Equinox EV, which will go on sale for between $43,295 and $46,795 at launch. In the meantime, orders for the brand-new gas-powered Equinox are currently being accepted, with delivery beginning later this year.
